How Syncing Works
Syncing is one of the incredible features of SiteDrive, so let's quickly explain what it means and how you can use it. Simply put, syncing adds the file into your own WordPress site from another drive. It also adds special data to track the latest changes to the file. This means you can automatically send or receive new versions of a file and be notified right in SiteDrive.
- If you have never installed an asset from a Remote Drive, the sync button will be grey. Once clicked, this will install the asset on your site.
- If there are additional changes from the Remote Drive, and you had synced in the past, the sync button will be orange to indicate there is a change to be synced. Click the icon to sync.
- If you have the latest version of a file from a Remote Drive, the sync button will be green.
Worth noting, if we provide an integration with the WordPress app for the file you are sending, a synced file will not just be available in SiteDrive, it will also be available in the theme, builder, or plugin directly.
If we have not created an integration, you can still add support for any file type from the SiteDrive settings. These files can still be synced, and you will still be notified in SiteDrive of new versions. The only difference is these files will not be pushed directly to the end theme, builder, or plugin.
